Suzano, the world’s leading market pulp producer, today announces the launch of its 2025 “Green Life · Blue Future” Program in Shanghai. This initiative marks the beginning of a year-long series of educational activities designed to foster ecological awareness and environmental stewardship among younger generations in China.
Supported by China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the program is co-sponsored by Suzano and its business partners, Baoding Yusen Sanitary Health Supplies and COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers. Aligned with the "Beautiful China, I Am a Doer" Action Plan (2021-2025), a national initiative led by China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Education, and four other key government bodies, the program aims to enhance public awareness of ecological civilization and promote sustainable practices. The launch event brought together representatives from the co-sponsors, government officials, the Consul General of Brazil in Shanghai, and primary school students, underscoring the collaborative effort to advance sustainability and foster cross-cultural understanding.
The program will feature a range of activities tailored to different age groups, including a drawing competition for kindergarten students, an inclusive design competition with sustainability themes for primary school students, and a nature education summer camp in Brazil for secondary school students.
The nature education camp in Brazil, a key highlight of the program, aims to deepen children’s understanding of biodiversity conservation while fostering cultural exchange. Chinese students will have the opportunity to explore Brazil’s rich ecosystems, participate in immersive learning experiences, and gain firsthand knowledge of the importance of preserving natural habitats.
“‘Planting for the future’ is a concept Suzano has always championed. We believe that combining education with hands-on experiences is the most effective way to help children understand the importance of the ecological environment and integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives,” said Beto Abreu, CEO of Suzano. “Our commitment to sustainability, particularly biodiversity conservation, remains at the core of everything we do.”
Building on the success of previous years, the “Green Life · Blue Future” Program has grown significantly in scale and impact since its inception. In 2023, the program focused on eco-friendly extracurricular activities, while 2024 saw the expansion of environmental education initiatives across 122 cities in China, receiving over 50,000 paintings and videos from participating students. Both years garnered widespread participation and positive feedback, laying a strong foundation for this year’s expanded program.
