Our Raw
Material

We have more than 1.6 million hectares of farms of sustainably grown eucalyptus trees. From them, we extract and use two products as raw materials: hardwood pulp, which provides rigidity and firmness to plants, and lignin, which protects trees. From these resources, we create several products that we use in our daily lives, including paper for various uses—from books to packaging, to toilet paper, to diapers.
As the largest pulp producer in the world, we are always looking for new solutions to replace fossil-based items using these renewable raw materials in different applications, such as fabrics, plastics and cosmetics.

Learn about the production stages of raw materials and how sustainability is part of each process on the Value Chain page.

Pulp

Market

We have historic knowledge of hardwood pulp: we were the first company in the world to produce pulp and paper using 100% eucalyptus fiber on an industrial scale. Learn more about Suzano Biopulp, our market pulp.

Fluff Pulp

We developed the world’s first eucalyptus fluff pulp, a renewable raw material ideal for absorbent products such as diapers, menstrual pads and pet mats. Because it is soft and flexible, it makes thinner and more discreet products, helping companies reduce packaging and logistics costs. Learn more about Suzano Eucafluff®, our fluff pulp.

Microfibrillated cellulose

Known as MFC, microfibrillated cellulose is an innovative material that can be applied in different segments, such as paper, construction and personal hygiene. Learn more about our microfibrillated cellulose.

The Fabric of

the Future

Microfibrillated cellulose is also a raw material used in the production of more sustainable fabrics, such as the Spinnova® textile fiber, produced and sold by Woodspin, a joint venture between Suzano and Spinnova. The manufacturing process of this fabric does not use chemicals that are harmful to the environment, consumes less water and emits less carbon dioxide, when compared to cotton. Visit the Woodspin website and learn more about the Spinnova® textile fiber.

Lignin

Along with pulp, lignin makes up the majority of tree wood. It is a renewable alternative to replace fossil materials in products such as rubber items, heat-resistant plastic, and even makeup. Discover other applications of Suzano Ecolig, our lignin.

Environmental Management

We implement best practices in farming and management in our eucalyptus farms and throughout our production process. Check out our policies, certifications and careful approach across the value chain.
